It started with a pattern I couldn’t ignore.

For over 15 years, I’ve been on the inside of some amazing companies, from global retail giants like Gap, Inc., to large-scale food producers like Hilmar, to healthcare leaders like Delta Dental. I’ve partnered with executives and led Learning & Development initiatives for teams of all sizes, from the front lines to the C-suite.

Whether I was designing training for 1,500 employees or coaching a single director, I saw the same thing again and again: Managers are the most critical—and most neglected—group in any organization.

They are the linchpin. They hold the strategy, the culture, and the careers of their team members in their hands. Yet, they are often promoted without the proper tools, left to figure it out on their own, and expected to solve complex people problems with little to no support.

It’s not just my observation; it’s a well-documented reality. Gallup research consistently shows that managers have a bigger impact on an employee's engagement and performance than any other factor.

I knew I had to take action. That's why I started Build Your Bench.

My passion is simple: I build confident and competent leaders.

I believe the key to unlocking a team’s potential lies in two fundamental areas: Strengths and Safety.

First, you have to know your people—truly know them. What are their natural talents? How do they think, influence, and build relationships? As a Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths Coach, I help leaders move beyond surface-level observations to see the innate genius in each team member. When you can name and aim talent, everything changes.

Second, you have to create an environment where those people feel safe enough to bring their full selves to work. As a Certified Facilitator in Psychological S.A.F.E.T.Y., I give leaders a practical framework to build a culture of trust and candor, where the best ideas can come from anywhere and everyone feels empowered to contribute.

How I’m Different

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. The challenges of leadership are too nuanced for a single playbook. That’s why I’ve built a comprehensive toolkit. My certifications in Situational Leadership® II and GROW Coaching allow me to adapt my approach to your unique needs, ensuring the solutions we implement are the ones that will actually stick.

My work isn’t just about theory; it’s about transformation. It’s about giving a struggling manager the tools to have a difficult conversation. It’s about helping a good leader become a great one. It’s about building a "bench" of leaders so strong they become your organization's greatest competitive advantage.

If you believe, like I do, that investing in your managers is the single most powerful investment you can make in your business, then we should talk.

Let's connect and discuss how we can build your bench, together.
